After the closure of several other colleges in the State in the last few days, the authorities of the Anandpur College in Keonjhar district also on Friday declared an indefinite closure of the institution after cancelling the students’ union elections, scheduled on October 11, due to sporadic incidents of violence on the campus.
On Tuesday night, some miscreants had hurled bombs at the college damaging several properties.
Later, police personnel were deployed in the campus to avoid any further untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, students of the Sharma Shakti College in Birmitrapur of Sundargarh district staged a demonstration protesting rejection of all nomination papers for the Students’ Union polls. The angry students vandalised the college campus damaging properties and staged a road blockade by burning tyres outside the campus.
