The AMRI Hospitals here recently launched a state-of-the-art ambulance patrol service in the city to render on-spot health support to critical care and trauma patients before rushing them to the hospital’s emergency unit.
These ambulances can be converted into ICU on-heels with doctors and nurses depending on a need-based manner. The ambulances are parked strategically at different points to offer services across a 30-km radius around the city.
“A large number of trauma victims succumb to their injuries due to unavailability of proper critical care support on the spot or well-equipped transfer facility to trauma care centre within the first hour of trauma,” said AMRI Hospitals vice-president Dr Salil Mohanty, adding that the ambulance patrol service has an average mobilisation time of five minutes.
