'Amir Rekha' sought to distinguish rich from poor

The Proutist Bloc, India (PBI) here on Saturday passed a resolution seeking for drawing a line between rich and poor so as to ensure that the rich cannot amass wealth after a particular limit.

“The rich should be placed under an ‘Amir Rekha’ and the poor under Garibi Rekha. This will help check unhindered accumulation of wealth. It’s unfortunate that the country’s 99 per cent wealth is concentrated in the hands of the rich which constitutes a microscopic section while the large section continues to suffer,” the resolution adopted at the end of the two-day convention of the political party said. The PBI contended that if the poor can be placed under BPl category, why cannot be the rich be placed in extra-rich category.

In another resolution, the PBI said it would work for the enactment of a law allowing moralists only to be active in politics.

“We resolve to work tirelessly to achieve a clear polarisation in politics between moralists and immoralist politicians. We will work and organise the disgruntled moralists for raising a genuine anti-exploitative Government,” PBI general secretary Rajesh Singh said.

Among others, PBI activists Rabindra Singh, Narayan Gupta and Dr AK Mohanty spoke.
