The Supreme Court-appointed Amicus Curiae Ranjit Kumar on Tuesday submitted a report in the apex court mentioning about the suggested reforms for the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

The report is based on the suggestions received by Kumar from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati and servitors of the temple during his visit to Puri in February.

The Supreme Court directed all sides in the case to present their views within four weeks and posted the next hearing to April 2.

Earlier on February 27, the apex court had deferred the hearing till March 5 due to absence of one of the three judges, Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri, of the bench. Kumar had also sought additional time to file his response with respect to his recent visit to Puri.

Notably, the Supreme Court had directed for to bring reforms in the 12 th Century shrine in response to a petition filed by one Mrinalini Padhi. He had brought difficulties being faced by devotees to the notice of the court and prayed for its early intervention.
