To ensure smooth movement of ambulances on city roads, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday directed concerned authorities to construct special corridors for patient carriers.
Patnaik also asked police not to detain ambulances during the passage of VIP vehicles on the roads. “The lives of patients are more precious than the VIP movement. Therefore, at no circumstances the ambulances would be detained on the road,” he said.
On the first phase, the special ambulance corridors would be constructed near major road crossings in the State, an official release said, adding that the Patnaik would review the matter after one month.
