Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat inaugurated the Jansampark Padayatra here on Gandhi Jayanti on Friday. The padayatra would continue till October 11, Jayaprakash Narayan’s birthday.
Phulbani MP Pratyusha Rajeswari Devi and MlA Duguni Kanhar and Baliguda MlA Rajib Patra, Housing Board Chairman Saroj Karna, Phulbani BYJD vice-president Kailash Rana and mahila wing president Mamata Besoi were present.
The BJP also staged a Satyagraha against the alleged failures of the BJD Government. Party leaders alleged than though many farmers are dying due to drought and women are not safe, yet no action is being taken by the Naveen Government.
The leaders criticised the BJD for killing a number of goats and hens for a feast given to party (BJD) workers who participated in the Jansampark Padayatra on the Bishwa Ahmisa Diwas. “While the administration has put restrictions on killing of goats and hens in public places on the Bishwa Ahmisa Diwas (Gandi Jayanti), the grand launch given to workers indicates what respect the ruling party has towards the Mahatma Gandhi,” BJP leaders said.
