'Ama Odisha to emerge major political force'

Exuding confidence that his newly-launched outfit would emerge as a major political force in the State ahead of the coming elections, Ama Odisha Party (AOP) founder-president Soumya Ranjan Patnaik on Thursday urged each party worker to rope in at least 10 members from his or her booth within the next 10 days to strengthen the party.

Patnaik was addressing a ‘Sankalpa Sabha’ attended by newly-recruited party workers here. The meeting coincided with the birth anniversaries of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai.

Expressing confidence that the AOP would receive recognition from the Election Commission of India well in time for the elections, Patnaik said the party would provide a real alternative to the existing ones, all of which have “failed to meet the aspirations of people”.

He accused other political parties of looting the State’s mineral and other resources.

Patnaik administered five ‘Sankalps’ (vows) to the new members: helping people understand, read and write in Odia; loving Odisha; donating blood; encouraging people to use their franchise; and creatin a new Odisha free of fear, bribe and corruption.
