The BJP Ganjam unit has demanded to allow celebration and performances of all rituals related to Maha Shivaratri, one of the important Hindu festivals, in the district without much restriction.
The party has urged the district Collector and the State Government to act in this regard. Party district president Bibhuti Bhusan Jena pointed out that the administration allowed inauguration of the Ramalingeswar Tank Entertainment Park with huge gatherings and the Cultural Heritage Function of the Jaugada Cage near Purusottampur during Covid-19. Then, what prevents the administration to allow crowds in celebration of Maha Shivaratri, he questioned.
It is learnt that the administration has imposed reasonable restrictions on the celebration of Mahashivaratri.
Former BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati also urged the administration to give permission to celebrate the festival as the Covid-19 situation is improving in the city as well as in the district. He has submitted a representation to the Brahmapur Sub-Collector in this regard.
