All deaths in K'put not Maoist act: Top cop

In a Press meet on Friday, Koraput-based South Western Range Inspector General of Police Yaswant Kumar Jethwa said that every murder in the district is not committed by the Maoists.

Jethwa urged the media not to draw any conclusion about the involvement of Maoists in every crime committed in the district without getting clarification from the authorities concerned

Highlighting the murder of Kamalu Miniaka, an elderly person of Odiapentho Street of Narayanpatna block on January 12, Jethwa clarified that he was killed by none other than his wife Pollei Miniaka.

“The police investigation reveals that she axed her husband to death out of sudden provocation resulting probably from a possible conflict in a family matter,” he said, adding that Pollei was arrested and the axe that she had used was also seized.

“However, it was reported in media that Maoists were involved in the killing of Kamalu,” Jethwa pointed out. District SP Awinash Kumar, who was also present at the media meet, said such reporting of news leads to confusion.
