Police recovered a body of an Odia album actress found hanging in a house at Old Town here on Wednesday.
The deceased Kaushalya Mallick (20), a native of Hatiaganda village under the Remuna police limits in Baleswar district, was found hanging from ceiling in a room of the house at Nageswartangi under the Shree lingaraj police station.
Although the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, a family dispute was suspected to be the prime cause for which the actress took the extreme step.
Police registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for postmortem. They also seized Kaushalya’s mobile phone from the spot.
According to reports, Kaushalya had been staying alone at the rented house.
She had married lakhminarayan Behera, a resident of Baleswar district on December 17 last year. As it was a love marriage, her in-laws were neither approving the wedding nor were they allowing Kaushalya into their house. Her husband was visiting her every Sunday in Bhubaneswar.
Reports said Kaushalya was under depression in the past few days after she quarreled with her husband as he had not visited her last Sunday.
She was found dead after one of her friends visited the house in Bhubaneswar and she did not open the door.
Her friend informed her neighbour, who informed the police later.
