Secretary to Chief Minister (5T) VK Pandian on Thursday visited the famous Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri, 20 km from Puri.

Directed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Pandian reviewed the existing facilities for pilgrims at the temple site to take appropriate steps for development of the amenities.

Lord Alarnath is famous as he is worshipped as representative of Lord Jagannath especially during the 15-day Anavasar period of the Mahaprabhu after Snan Yatra. The site has been famous for the pilgrimage of saints like Ramanujacharya and Sri Chaitanya.

Pandian held talks with the Sevayats and local people about issues relating to the temple. He then asked the concerned officials to draw up a master plan within 15 days for development of the site with proper facilities for pilgrims, tourists and Sevayats. The master plan would be presented to the Chief Minister for approval.

Puri Collector Samarth Verma and senior Works Department and OBCC officials were present.
