Akash urges Govt to renovate Kalinga Studio

Published on:

Korei BJD MlA and Odia film actor Akash DasNayak on Saturday called upon the State Government and art loving people of the State for renovation of the Kalinga Studio here, which is in a dilapidated condition.

Once upon a time, Akash  said, producers from Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Odisha were shooting their films in this studio. But now, the studio is in a bad shape since the 1999 Super Cyclone, as a result of which Odisha film producers are going outside the State for shooting by paying heavy amounts, he pointed out.

The MlA said the Government should take steps to renovate the studio and also establish a museum in the city to conserve memorabilia of great artists. He also urged the Government to set up an ultramodern film institute in Bhubaneswar like the Biju Patnaik Film Institute in Cuttack.
