AJSU to contest in 3 tribal MP seats

And 20 Assembly seats

Regional political outfit All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) is going to contest from three Lok Sabha and 20 Assembly constituencies in the State in the 2019 general elections.

AJSU president Ananta Alok Baskey, in a Press statement here on Sunday, stated that his party will be putting up its candidates in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh, the three ST reserved Parliamentary seats. Besides, the party is planning to fight in at least 20 Vidhan Sabha Constituencies of these tribal-dominated districts in the coming elections.

The AJSU, it may be pointed out, like the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), enjoys a comparatively stronger mass-base in the region.

JMM too, it is learnt, is going to contest in most of the Assembly seats of north Odisha and at least in the three Lok Sabha seats of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh. Thus the 2019 elections will witness a situation of cutting into each others’s tribal vote banks by the parties, observers here say.
