The Aam Janata Dal (AJD) on Friday burnt an effigy of most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim at a protest meeting held here on his birthday on Friday.
On this occasion, the party too faxed a letter to Prime Minister’ Office urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate steps for bringing Dawood to India and giving death punishment to him.
“Dawood has immigrated to Pakistan after leading serial bomb explosions in Mumbai in 1993 in which around 600 people were killed. The BJP-led NDA had, in its election manifesto, promised to nab Dawood Ibrahim. But, it is disappointing that the Government is yet to keep its promise though two years have already passed,” alleged AJD leaders in a statement.
They demanded that the Government ask Pakistan to hand over Dawood to India soon.
Among others party founder Pradeep Senapati, president Surendra Bhanj and general secretary Jajati Keshari Patnaik were present.
