Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar hereon Sunday mocked at Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling him a Hitler.

He made the statement while launching his book — Ache DinIJ Ha! Ha!! at a ceremony organised by the Oxford Book Store and the Palimpsest Publishing House.

Aiyar said the BJP Government at the Centre has failed to bring ‘Achhe Din’ promised to the people before coming to the power.

He said the Modi has in his Government leaders like Dharmendra Pradhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, Mahesh Sharma, Smriti Irani and some others who had no experience or knowledge in their respective field. “Even Dharmendra Pradhan’s mother would have not thought that her son will become a Union Petroleum Minister,” he quipped.

Aiyar, who had once triggered controversies by predicting chaiwala Modi can’t be a Prime Minister, went a step ahead to substantiate his prediction stating that Modi had never been a chaiwala in his life. “It was a big lie of Narendra Modi only to get vote,” he said on a question asked by moderator of the launching session SNSMT chairman Suparno Satpathy.

On a question regarding Congress’s possible comeback asked by panelist Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Aiyar said his party had faced defeat in the last election, but it will come up with rainbow coalition. “We have to stitch back our coalition to come back to power in 2019,” he added.

On a question asked by another panelist BJD MP Pinaki Mishra regarding Congress’s infighting, Aiyar said the party has some problems like any other parties. “Even the ruling BJP is facing criticism from its own leaders like lK Advani, Jaswant Sinha and some senior leaders,” he said, adding, “Apart from all problems, Congress is trying to come up with green signal.”
