The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested Air Odisha Director Trideeb Rout on the charge of threatening his wife with death.

However, Rout was released on bail by a local court later.

The Chandrasekharpur police nabbed Rout near the Bhubaneswar airport while he was on his way to attend the inaugural function of the inter-State Air Odisha service which was attended by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

As per the complaint filed by Rout’s second wife Rajlakshmi at the Chandraskeharpur police station two days back, he threatened her with death near the Chandrasekharpur petrol pump while she was on her way with her family members.

“I was going with my family members near the Chandrasekharpur police station. He rushed towards my car and threatened me of dire consequences if I do not withdraw the dowry torture case lodged against him,” said Rajlakshmi.

Following this, she lodged a complaint at the Police Station.

Rout had also engaged spies to keep track on Rajlakshmi, the complaint added.

Notably, Rout had recently got bail from the Orissa High Court in a dowry torture case filed by her at the Mahila Police Station. Rajlakshmi and Rout are at present staying apart.

Rout’s first wife had filed three complaints against him whereas his second wife has lodged two.

Meanwhile, the Air Odisha authorities ‘clarified’ that Trideeb Rout did not hold any post in the airline.
