The All India Radio Brahmapur has been selected for the national-level Akashvani Annual Award competition- 2013 under the best Science Programme category, which has been introduced for the first time by the AIR to popularize science broadcast in the country.
The science programme Pakshi (The Bird) is produced by AIR Brahmpur Programme head Hrusikesh Panigrahi.
Notably, some species of birds have become extinct because of man’s fallacy and misuse of science. Shockingly, 97% of vultures have already vanished from India and Pakistan; and so also the little sparrow. Research has been made in this documentary on bird’s evolution, growth, migration and cause of extinction.
Pakshi also includes success story of the State’s first ever sparrow conservation at a remote village at the Rusikulya river mouth called Puruna Bandha. The method is now being adopted by different agencies.
