A doctor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar was on Tuesday arrested by the Mahila police on the charge of duping a girl on marriage pretext.
The accused identified as Jaydeep Dasgupta had come in contact with the victim when she was at the hospital for her father’s treatment.
The victim’s father was admitted in the Cardiology Department of the hospital where Jaydeep was posted. The victim is said to be a banker and a native of Khordha.
The accused initially collected the girl’s mobile phone number on the pretext of sharing reports regarding her frather’s treatment and discharge.
The victim has alleged that the doctor and she developed intimacy and were into a physical relationship over past two years. However, their relationship turned bitter after the victim learnt that the doctor was getting married to another girl.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, the Mahila police arrested the doctor.
