The initiative taken by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, to provide best in class health checkup and medical consultancy from the expert doctors of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, completed one year on Saturday.

The social responsibility envisioned by ITR Director Dr BK Das has been realised due to cooperation extended by Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar Dr Geetanjali Batmanabane.

Till today 47 such health camps have already been organised since the inaugural one held on July 8, 2017. At the beginning, a section of people had a fear that security process may cause inconvenience to public which was proved wrong as these camps could render service to more than 7,300 patients. Though initially the camp targeted the people of Baleswar but finally it has been covering all neighbouring areas and States as well.

Consultancy in various specialised disciplines of surgery and medicine such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, General Medicine, General Surgery and Gastroenterology etc were provided to these people during these camps.  More than 90 per cent of about 7,300 patients treated so far are non-DRDO patients. The effort has reduced the rush of patients to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar from north Odisha.
