The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), Ganjam district committee’s dharna in front of the Khallikote Cluster University here entered its third day on Thursday protesting shifting of the university’s campus to Kanisi village on the outskirts of the city.
Members of the AIDSO staging the dharna under the leadership of Sibani Sankar Mishra alleged that the academic atmosphere of the city would be destroyed due to the shifting of the university.
They also questioned about the mystery behind hiring a private building for location of the university in the Kanisi village by the authorities at a rent of Rs eight lakh per month.
Mishra also pointed out that the location to which the authorities have planned to shift the university has no communication and healthcare facilities. Among others, AIDSO district secretary Nimai Charan Sahu, Ranjan Sethi, Kishan Sahu, Kamaraj Sahu, Tirupati Dora, Papun Sahu are leading the agitation.
