AIDSO begins 1-cr signature drive against NEP

Published on:

Demanding withdrawal of the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020, a one-crore signature campaign was launched on Wednesday before the Ravenshaw University here by the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO).

Joining as guests Struggle Forum convenor Prashant Das, retired headmaster Mahendra Kaystha, AIDSO State  vice-president Boby Balbantray, Cuttack district president Bhagyaravi Das and student leader Shivani Sahu said the recommendations in the NEP would jeopardize university autonomy and the scientific and democratic education system.

Leaders of the organisation also alleged that the basic objective of this policy is academic and administrative centralisation and making education as a profitable commodity. Besides, introduction of early childhood care, school complex, national testing agency for admission, blended process of education, four years of degree course and opportunity for pursuing two-degree course at a time would pave way for commercialisation of education.
