Ahead of B'garh rally, Modi urged to clarify stand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a farmers’ rally at Bargarh on February 21. This day being the World Mother Tongue Day, Kosli Ekta Manch has reminded Modi of making appropriate announcement for inclusion of Kosli language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.

While demanding this at a Press conference, Kosli Ekta Manch member and Kosal Kranti Dal vice president Baidyanath Mishra urged the Prime Minister to get the farmers’ suicide case of western Odisha districts investigated by a central agency and declare adequate compensation to the victims.

Mishra also demanded the Mohanty Commission report on regional imbalance be made public. Citing this as a decision of the BJD-BJP coalition Government’s decision in 2004, he urged Modi to ask the BJD Government as to how it can sit pretty on such a sensible issue.

Alleging that the central sponsored KBK scheme was a failure despite pumping in huge funds, Mishra pleaded for carving out the KBK districts from Odisha for separate “Paschimanchal” State.

Modi should also ask the BJD Government about the RDC report on the Hirakud boat capsize tragedy that has been suppressed for the last two years. 31 lion’s Club members out of whom a majority belonged to Marwadi community known to be loyal to the Government of the day, lost their lives, Mishra lamented.

Kosli Ekta Manch president Mahipal Bag, general secretary Markanda luha, advisor Pitabas Mishra and member Surama Mishra were present at the meet.
