The Vigilance police on Tuesday caught Pranaya Kumar Mantry, Assistant Agriculture Officer-cum-Fertiliser Inspector, Paikmal in Bargarh district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 from a person.
Mantry had demanded payment of the money from a fertiliser dealer threatening to cancel his licence otherwise.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the rented residential house of Mantry at Paikmal in Bargarh district, his rented house at Sailashree Vihar in Bhubaneswar, house at native village Koilakanya under Tigiria block in Cuttack district and his office room at Paikmal.
Later, Mantry was arrested and forwarded to court.
