There have been many reports of people taking law into their hands to protest against liquor trade or shops in the State, but in a novel act, protestors distributed milk in front of a liquor shop near Rajaghat Square in Bhadrak on Tuesday.
The anti-liquor agitators, including women and children, of Matha Sahi ward requested people to stay away from liquor and, instead, drink milk for their good health.
Though earlier the residents had staged protests in front of the district Collectorate demanding shifting of the liquor shop, the authorities turned a deaf ear to their plea.
They alleged that the shop was proving to be a nuisance leading to deterioration of law and order in the area.
In reaction, district Collector Gyanaranjan Das said that as the liquor shop relocation matter is pending before the Orissa High Court, no action can be taken till the case is decided by the court.
