like the Government says no farmer has committed suicide in the State due to crop loss and loan burden, in case of the Block Grant teachers boycotting CHSE papers evaluation, the Government too is not admitting that there is any hiccup in the evaluation process.

School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra sticking to his guns said the evaluation process is going on smoothly and the results would be declared on time.

However, sources said the first phase of the CHSE answer sheets evaluation had begun with controversies as the Bock Grant teachers staged protests in front of the evaluation centres with the result that for first few days the attendance of the evaluators had been thin. Seeing the troubles, the School and Mass Education Department and the Higher Education Departments went on an overdrive and issued orders for strong action against the truant teachers, who stayed away from evaluation. The private aided college Governing bodies were asked to act strong against the errant teachers not joining the evaluation work. Even degree college teachers who are not acquainted with the Plus II course were employed to evaluate the papers.

Still, the first phase evaluation process had gone slow and it was uncertain if it would be finished as scheduled, observed an agitating teacher here.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the CHSE evaluation began on Monday. This time also, the Government has employed both regular and Block Grant teachers even as the boycott by the Block Grant teachers continues.

Meanwhile, the School College Teachers and Employee’s United Forum convenor Pabitra Mahala said the association’s steering committee which met on Monday has decided to hold a Mahasamavesh on April 18 where students, teachers, guardians and intellectuals of the State would gather to protest the Government’s apathy against the teachers.

Mahala said the evaluation process has not been without troubles and that nobody can confirm it would be error-free.
