Agitating teachers not to join Plus II valuation works

Despite the warning of the Government, the agitating college teachers of non-Government colleges reiterated that they would boycott

Plus II answer sheet evaluation starting on April 4.

“We won’t relent. Our demands are genuine. We will boycott the evaluation process,” said Non-Government College Teachers’ Association president Rabi Ray. The teachers have been demanding withdrawal of Block Grant (BG) system, salary on a par with teachers of Government colleges and promotional benefits and increase in retirement age to 62 from 60 years.

Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahy said stringent legal action would be taken against the teachers if they fail to join evaluation process.

“I again appeal to them to cooperate in evaluation of Plus II answer sheets process, else the Government will take appropriate action against them,” said Panigrahy.

Meanwhile, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Chairman Basudev Chhatoi said retired lecturers would be engaged for evaluation if required.

One of the agitating teachers, justifying the boycott decision, said, “After the request of Higher Education Minister we participated in Plus II examination but once the examination got over the Government ditched us.”

Notably, hundreds of teachers belonging to 488 and 622 category colleges had held a rally last week here.
