A'garh scribes worry over environ degradation

Published on:

On the occasion of the recent World Environment Day, the Athagarh Press Club (APC) held a meeting here with the scribes expressing their concern over environment degradation leading to imbalance in the ecosystem. The journalists resented the rapid tree cutting by mafias and by the Government in the name of road widening and development and illegal trade of wildlife products. The killing of elephants and smuggling of tusks is on the rise in the Athagarh jungle. Besides, flowers and plants of different species from the jungle are on the verge of extinction, said secretary president Sarbeswar Panda

Global warming has a reverse effect on the environment. Inadequate drinking water is adding to the woes. Media can educate people to understand the damage on environment made by human beings and the need for change in mindset to save environment from degradation, said club secretary Dinesh Das.
