Ahead of the Valentine’s Day, almost all Government and private schools in Athagarh observed Matru-Pitru Pujan Divas on Tuesday. Under the aegis of Sri Yoga Vedanta Sewa Samiti, Cuttack, schools observed the day with a motive to convert the negative love of youths to sacred one. As youths get involved in the observance of Valentine’s Day, which is a western phenomenon, the Samiti made an effort to embed them with the values of Indian culture. On the occasion, students worshipped their parents by offering Diyas, flowers and Prasad. Besides, the Samiti members spoke on various success stories of many Indian historical heroes and the significance of parents-children relationship. The programme was held under the leadership of Samiti members Mira Mohanty, Gitarani Mohanty, laxmipriya Swain, Baijayanti Rout, Pranati Das and Subhasmita Das.
