In a shocking incident, one Asanti Duari (21), daughter of Ulash Duari of Chasanra village under Tigiria block, succumbed to her burn injury on Monday evening at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
She was admitted to the SDH, Athagarh on Monday morning with 80 percent burn injury and after first aid was shifted to the SCB.
The deceased had married to Santosh Kumar Rout, son of Dhruba Rout of Mugagahir under Badamba block on July 10.
Asanti's father Ulash complained with the Badamba police of dowry torture meted out to his daughter which led to her death. He alleged that his daughter was burnt by throwing kerosene on her.
Athagarh SDPO Prakash Chandra Pal said a murder case was registered and an inquiry was on.
