A day after a UGC evaluation team left the GM College, a three-member NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) team arrived here to assess further gradation of the college on the basis of its performances and other criteria. The NAAC team would almost do the same job as done by the UGC team. But the NAAC team would give marks for gradation of the college. The team would stay for three days, college sources said.
Earlier, the GM College was given a ‘B’ grade for its various performances. The college authorities this time are hopeful of an upgradation as the college has improved a lot during the last few years. But the shortage of teaching staff in almost all the departments is expected to come in the way of upgradation, as is apprehended.
On the very first day, the team members held discussions with the principal and other teaching staffs. They also visited all the departments. They would also discuss with students and the office-bearers of the present and former Students’ Councils to collect feedback. On the third day, the team would prepare its report and make the most desired marking for gradation, the sources said further. like the UGC team, the NAAC members are also keeping distance from the media to maintain secrecy of its course of evaluation.
