Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, who was here to attend the BJP national executive meeting, in an interview to a television channel on Sunday, said he is confident that after the 2019 Assembly elections, the  BJP would form Government in Odisha.

Yogi said that in India’s biggest State Uttar Pradesh, the BJP was able to win the elections in a thumping manner. So, comparatively it would be easy in Odisha, where the recent panchayat elections have proved that the BJP has the people’s support. The party has done well in 14 districts.

Earlier, the people did not think that the BJP would be able to put up a good fight. The party has prepared a strategy for Odisha and in 2019 elections the party would win a good number of seats to get majority.

The five-time MP from Gorakhpur lashed out at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government and said in its seventeen-year rule the State Government has failed miserably.

Forty-seven per cent of the people of Odisha are still below poverty line. Many people have been deprived of safe drinking water and electricity. The State Government has failed to provide the basic amenities. He alleged that development of infrastructure, amenities and other facilities are still a distant dream for the majority of people.

When asked if the Odisha Government should waive agricultural loans in the wake of a similar decision taken by him in UP, Yogi said it would be in the interest of farmers of Odisha.
