After coming to know the sorry plight of Khirodini Das, an impoverished visually-impaired destitute woman from The Pioneer, Pattamundai BDO Bharat Chandra Parida on Thursday directed local Panchayat Executive Officer to rush to her house and submit a report after conducting an inquiry. While talking to our reporter , the BDO thanked The Pioneer for highlighting plight of a visually impaired. “I have directed PEO to conduct an inquiry and as per the preliminary report it has come to my notice that the visually impaired woman tried at least four times to get her Aadhaar enrolment but in vain due to some technical error.
As she does not have Aadhaar, she failed to get subsidised food grains under Food Security Act. But she has been getting physically disabled pension every month though she does not have physically handicapped certificate," said BDO Parida. He clarified that he has directed PEO andlocal sarpanch to bring to hapless woman to Pattamundai block in order to make her Aadhaar card and Marketing Inspector to provide subsidised food grain to her.
