The Nuapada police have arrested two more persons in the case of fraudulent transactions in the lower Indra Irrigation Project (lIIP) in Nuapada district.
One of the arrested persons this time is present ADM of Subarnapur Ashok Kumar Bag, who was working as the land Acquisition Officer-cum-Project Director, Rehabilitation & Resettlement (PD, R&R) in the lIIP. Bag is the first Government official to be arrested in the multi-crore fund embezzlement case of the irrigation project.
The other arrested person is one Kshyama Nial of Komna block who is one of the brokers allegedly involved in creating fake displaced persons and conspiring for huge fund embezzlement through fraudulent transactions. Both the accused were forwarded to jail custody on Sunday under various sections of IPC.
