The Aditya Aluminium, under its CSR initiatives, has recently launched a new initiative towards sustainable livelihood of women at Rengali block in Sambalpur district.
To encourage women of the region to start new businesses like production and sale of dry snacks, the company organised a three-day training programme. Around 40 women from four SHGs of Tileimal, lahamani, ludhapali and Pondaloi under Rengali block participated in the programme. After completing the initial training, the women produced 50 kg of snacks which were served in the plant canteen and sold at the local market. The snacks are produced under the brand name Bharat and Gruhini Mixture.
Secretary of Samaleswari Group at Tileimal Surabhi Barik said though they were quite apprehensive of the production of the snacks initially, with training provided by the company, they look forward to be involved in bigger ventures in the near future.
“By promoting SHGs, we aim at inculcating a sense of entrepreneurship and self-dependency amongst the women of the region. We have seen visible progress in this regard and hope the training will be beneficial for them”, said Aditya Aluminum unit head Bibhu Mishra.
