Adhoc, contract docs seek place-based incentives

Published on:

The Adhoc and Contractual Doctors’ Association, Odisha has demanded that the State Government provide place-based incentives to Adhoc and contractual doctors.

In this context, association secretary Dr Sanjeeb Mishra has written a letter to the Health and Family Welfare Secretary demanding placed-based incentives for them like the medical officers working in tribal and backward areas.

Dr Mishra stated that the State Government announced place-based incentives for medical officers working in tribal and backward areas starting from June last year. But, a recent circular has barred the Adhoc and contractual doctors from these incentives.

“This is a highly insensitive as the Government has failed to give regular appointment during the past four years. There have not been any OPSC posting during these years. All the postings are either Adhoc or contractual in nature,” he added.

Dr Mishra urged the Health Secretary to modify the circular and extend the incentives to Adhoc and contractual doctors working in periphery areas and take

steps to regularise the Adhoc doctors on seniority basis at the earliest.
