Adequate security measures for Sunabeda polling

Nearly 40 units of paramilitary forces, seven platoons of Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans, six units of Cobra jawans, seven quick reaction teams, besides a special helicopter will be engaged for free, fair and violence-free polling on April 10 in 590 polling booths falling in the Sunabeda sanctuary in the Maoist-hit Nuapada district.

This was decided at a high-level security review meeting chaired by south-western range IG Jaswant Jethwa on Tuesday in Nuapada. Out of the 590 booths 68 were identified as sensitive booths.“Our priority is to ensure a violence free polling. Every possible precautionary measure are in place for the purpose,” said Jethwa. Many senior police officials, officials from CRPF and other Central agencies attended the meeting.
