The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch police investigating into the land scam at Ghangapatna on the city outskirts on Saturday arrested a retired Additional Teshildar on the charge of overruling Government guidelines leading to unauthorised possession of Government land by private people.
Kulamani Nayak, who was working at the Bhubaneswar tehsil at that time, was arrested and forwarded to court, said Crime Branch DIG Rajesh Kumar.
last month, the Crime Branch had arrested seven persons, including four Government employees, in connection with the Ghangapatna land scam, in which several influential persons, including politicians, allegedly grabbed 76 acres of Government land.
The scam generated political heat last month following allegations that influential people, including BJP president KV Singh Deo’s daughter Nivriti Kumari and Rajya Sabha BJD member Kalpataru Das’ BJD MlA-son Pranab Balabantaray had acquired Government land violating norms.
