Over 420 tribal students of Ekalavya Adarsha Vidyalaya near Hirli gheraoed the district collectorate here on Wednesday, seeking posting of PGT teachers.
They demanded maintenance of hostels and classrooms, installation of new computers and aqua guard in each class room and supply of study materials.
The protesters said that the PGT teachers in Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Odia were laying vacant for last few months, affecting teaching. Project administrator Narayana Murmu, District Welfare Officer Pabitra Mohan Pradhan, Sub Collector Karunakar Raika and SDPO Rabindra Kumar Jena tried to pacify the students. But the latter demanded that Collector must come for a discussion to resolve the issue.
After the intervention of Collector Rashmita Panda, the students withdrew their protests. The students cautioned the Collector to leave school en masse unless the demands were resolved soon.
