Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury on Monday lodged a complaint with the Cyber police against a web portal for allegedly circulating fake news regarding her heath condition.
The portal circulated news claiming that the actress had been diagnosed with cancer and she had been admitted to a hospital.
Choudhury has lodged a complaint at the Cyber police station in the capital city seeking stringent action against the web portal.
The actress alleged that some web portals have been circulating fake news on her and several Odia film actors to draw viewers’ attention.
Some people have been doing this since long. They try to draw viewers to their web portals by circulating fake news on actors and other eminent personalities. The police should take appropriate action in this regard. People should not follow unethical means to get monetary benefits,” said Choudhury.
The Cyber police have launched a probe into the incident, sources said.
