Another Odisha cine star is going to be inducted into the BJP as Ollywood actress Aparajita Mohanty will join the party on February 19, informed BJP State spokesperson Pitambar Acharya on Friday.
Mohanty had on February 13 resigned from the Congress; and it was expected that she would join the saffron party.
Aparajita had joined the Congress just ahead of the 2014 general elections. The party had fielded her from the Cuttack Parliamentary constituency, but she was defeated by her BJD rival Bhartruhari Mahtab by over two lakh votes.
Notably, Ollywood actors Mihir Das, Anu Choudhury and Mahasweta Ray joined the BJP recently.
Meanwhile, former local BJD leader Sanat Gadatia on Friday joined the BJP in the by-poll-bound Bijepur in Bargarh district in the presence of Union Ministerr Dharmendra Pradhan, party State president Basant Panda and party’s candidate for the by-election Ashok Panigrahi.
