Hundreds of activists of the Congress, Jagannath Sena, Sachetan Nagarik Mancha and Srikshetra Suraksha Manch staged a dharna in front of the jail road blocking the traffic since last six hours.

They alleged that irregularities have occurred in all Nabakalebar infrastructure works with a nexus among ruling political leaders, contractors and engineers. A thorough probe by the Vigilance

department into all the infra works should be conducted, they demanded.

Meanwhile, two complaints were lodged with the Kumbharpara police station in this regard.

In another development, three upadalapati Daitapatis, Durga Dasmahapatra, Ganesh Dasmahapatra and Chandrashekahr Dasmahapatra, of the Banajag team on Sunday appeared before the court of SJTA Chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and got their statements recorded.

Sources said, the upadalapatis stated about the alleged fixing in selection of Darus and inordinate delay in Brahma Parivartan rituals of the deities.

Meanwhile, the Mukti Mandap Pandit Sava has suggested that mentions in the Record of Rights (RoR) regarding services of Daitapatis and Pati Mohaptras vis-à-vis Brahma Parivartan of lords be defined clearly and, if required, the RoR be amended to avert further disturbances in future.

According to the RoR, Pati Mohapatras do the Brahma Parivartan ritual while Daitapatis help in conduct of other rituals relating to transfer of sours of the Trinity.
