In an exception, activists of some city-based social organisations on the Valentine’s Day on Tuesday carried out a cleanliness drive near the statue of legendary Buxi Jagabandhu near Museum Square here and paid floral tributes to the great freedom fighter.

The speakers said the youths of the world celebrate February 14 as the Valentine’s Day with great gusto and enthusiasm. Valentine’s night and week are also being celebrated. But the day is part of the Western culture and it is a well-hatched conspiracy to destroy the rich Indian culture.

Is love only physical and confined to the loversIJ The love between teacher- student, father-son, husband -wife, brother-sister and mother-son and also between friends should be emulated. Everybody should love their motherland and culture.

“The country is our mother and culture is our father,” added the speakers.

Social activists laxmikant Paikray, Rabindra Routray, Susant Sahu, Susant Sahu, Imran Ali and Sangram Keshari Routray were among others present.
