In a major embarrassment to the standup comedian and Odia cine star Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pompom, activists of the lulu Sena threw ink at him in a broad daylight on the busy Cuttack Road here for allegedly disregarding lord Jagannath and holy basil plant (Tulsi).
The activists of the late Congress leader lalatendu (lulu) Bidyadhar Mohapatra laced ink on his face and body even after he, who is an expelled BJD leader, begged excuse by holding ears inside his car. The activists intercepted his SUV and threw ink at him when he was returning from a shooting location.
Meanwhile, the Jagannath Sena, an outfit fighting for protection of Jagannath culture, on Wednesday filed a petition at the Puri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court against Papu Pompom as the Sea Beach police station did not register a case lodged against him by Sena activists.
The comic actor at the concluding ceremony of the Puri Beach Festival in Puri said basil plant, on which “dog urinates”, is offered to lord Jagannath. “Whoever prays lord Jagannath will take rebirth as a canine because Tulsi is offered to the lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and lord Vishnu after dog grants it,” the comedian had said satirically.
In June, Papu Pompom had been arrested on charge of sexually harassing a minor girl after promising to give her a break in films and was released from jail on conditional bail on August 10.
