Activist praises SC lawyer's role in chit fund case

Published on:

lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara on Thursday praised lawyer Suresh Chandra Tripathy, who fought in the Supreme Court successfully to have a CBI inquiry ordered into chit fund scam.

Addressing reporters here, Samantara said the lawyer had requested the court to add seven more companies including Seashore and Artha Tatwa in the list of big fraud companies which were not mentioned in the affidavit of the State Government.“When Tripathy was sincerely fighting the case from the beginning, petitioner of the case asked him for no objection certificate (NOC) before the final hearing of the case,” said Samantara, adding, “This was shocking for Tripathy who had conducted the case without taking a single pie considering it was a religious act to help the needy.”

later, the activist said, the court asked Tripathy to appear for another petitioner in the same case. He was brought in and Tripathy continued his fight as his own lawyer, Samantara added.

He asked why the first petitioner asked for NOC during the final hearing though he didn’t get anything new in the hearing. “Anyone labelling Tripathy as one of scam conspirators is trying to hide himself from the conspiracy to bail out some companies which are being protected by the State Government,” said Samantara and called upon the small investors to thank the lawyer for his sincere advocacy to bring justice through a CBI inquiry.
