A united forum of 30 social action groups on Friday reiterated their demand for a CBI probe into the flat and plot allotment scam in the State.
Coming down heavily on the Government for delaying in initiating criminal proceeding against the offenders benefitted under the Discretionary Quota (DQ), the forum alleged that though the Taradatt-headed Taskforce had recommended to prepare a list of the plot and flat beneficiaries benefitted before 1995, the same is yet to happen.
Rights activist Pradip Pradhan, also a member of Odisha Soochana Adhikar Manch, told reporters here, “Though six months have elapsed into the submission of the Taskforce report on the land scam, the Government has even failed to prepare a list of the beneficiaries availing properties from the BDA, CDA and OSHB before 1995. Then on what strength is the (concerned) Minister claiming that strict action would be initiated against the offenders soonIJ”
“We want an inquiry into the allotments done since the inception of the BDA, CDA and OSHB,” he said.
“As the Government has not yet prepared a list of flat/plot receivers, we think the whole inquiry process is shrouded in mystery and designed to befool people. We also have no faith on the State Vigilance for a fair probe. Hence, the investigation must be handed over to the CBI,” demanded Pradhan.
