People of Jeypore have demanded that the municipality take action against the Kalyan Mandaps which are dumping garbage on the roads in the town.
“All Kalyan Mandaps are dumping wastes after marriage and other social feasts. It is difficult to pass main roads as the rotten wastes release foul smell and water,” said a youth of the town.
Besides, traffic gets jammed as cows, bulls and dogs gathered at the dumping site to eat food remnants. Nearby houses are the worst sufferers.
“We demand that the Kalyan Mandaps be asked to dump wastes at an appropriate place. The municipality should take stringent action against the offenders,” said members of various civil societies, including HOPE.
