One Alekha Panigrahi, a Zilla Parishad teacher of Ashtam Prahari UP School, Palia Cluster under Tihidi Block of Bhadrak district has been continuing in service for last 13 years despite giving wrong information suppressing his academic performance.
This has been exposed through a RTI query. He scored poor marks throughout his career. He is a third class student in Matriculation, Intermediate, Graduation and BEd. However, by corrupt means, he increased his marks in the appointment register. The marks of the incumbent in his original mark sheets and appointment register are highly contradictory.
As per the RTI reply, he mentioned in his application that he scored 42 per cent in Matriculation, 52 per cent in Intermediate, 57 per cent in Graduation and 56 per cent in BEd. According to his appointment register, he secured 714 marks out of 1,200 in BA exam i.e. 59.5 per cent. He secured 526 out of 900 in BEd exam which is 58.44 per cent. locals said Panigrahi should have been given appointment after proper verification of original certificates and mark sheets. The corrupt officials who are hand in glove with Panigrahi took huge bribe and allowed him to continue in his post. Even if the fact has been exposed under RTI and the local media has been flooded with the news, no action has been initiated by the district administration in this regard.
locals threatened to stage demonstration in front of the DPC office in case no action is initiated against the corrupt teacher. He should be punished and the amount of salary he received should be recovered from him, they demanded.Meanwhile, the DPC assured immediate suspension of the teacher.
