The President of India has appointed Prof Mohammad Miyan as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Central University Odisha, Koraput for an interim period. The tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Prof Surabhi Banerjee had ended on February 27.
Prof Miyan, the incumbent VC of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad is an eminent academician and administrator and member of several academic decision-making bodies in various educational institutions including the DEC and IGNOU.
Having over 40 years of teaching experience at the PG level and administrative experience at the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Prof Miyan has worked in different capacities like dean of faculties, HoD, registrar, finance officer, vigilance officer and director of the Centre for Distance and Open learning.
