Dr Pravas Acharya has taken over as the Chief Administrative Officer of premier Odia daily “The Samaja”.
Born at Bisoi in Mayurbhanj district and having had his graduation from the Maharaja Purnachandra College, Baripada, Dr Acharya did his post-graduation in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Utkal University and obtained his Doctorate. He is also a postgraduate in Rural Development and Odia Literature.A frontrunner in disaster relief management, Dr Acharya is also a pioneer in human body and organ donation movement in Odisha. He has earned many laurels for his manifold social activities. As an Anchor in Doordarshan over the last three decades, he has left an indelible imprint upon the viewers.
His expertise as a TV anchor has enabled him as a faculty to produce many journalists. Dr Acharya got attracted owrds the Servants of People Society after relinquishing a coveted position in the Indian Railways. Currently, he is the society’s national secretary.
