ACF death: IHRC demands CBI probe

Published on:

In the Paralakhemudi ACF Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra death case, the police are trying to save some key suspects, the International Human Rights Council alleged here and demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI.

In a Press conference organised by the council, its State president Alok Kumar Bose said that the mystery of Soumyaranjan's death is being jointly investigated by the police and the Crime Branch. But Gajapati SP Tapan Kumar Pattnaik has already given clean chit to three suspects like DFO Sangram Keshari Behera, cook Manmath Kumbh and Gurandi police station officer Mamata Panda in the incident.

Though the incident occurred 21 days ago, but the real culprits are yet to be brought to book. Even some politicians and officers are trying to influence the investigation process, which shows that not only the investigation is tardy but it is not transparent, alleged Bose. IHRC Gajapati district secretary Pronoj Kumar Pattnaik questioned when Soumya's father had complained against the DFO, Vidya Bharati and the cook, why keys of Soumya’s official residence where the burning incident happened were given to the DFO. So the police knowingly gave the keys to the DFO to destroy evidences, he said.
